Choose brown noise as a background for focused work.

When you want a steady background while reading or working, brown noise is one of the options in White Noise. Compare it with white and pink noise, then use the sound you prefer at a comfortable volume.

Find the background you can comfortably leave on

The app generates white, brown and pink noise continuously on your iPhone. You can listen without an internet connection and without waiting for a recording to download.

Try the options at a low volume rather than choosing a noise color because of a promised result. White Noise does not make a concentration, ADHD or cognitive-performance claim. Personal preference and the surrounding environment matter when choosing a working background.

Build a mix for the session

Combine brown noise with a rain recording or another sound, up to three sounds in total. Separate volume controls let you keep one element in the background rather than making every sound equally prominent. Save and name the mix for later.

If you also listen to music or a podcast, enable Play with other audio. Adjust the app volume independently from the iPhone's system volume. You can leave the sound playing with the screen locked or set a timer to end it after the session.

Before you finish

  • Compare noise colors at a low, comfortable volume.
  • Adjust each part of a mix separately.
  • Use a timer if you want the sound to stop with the session.
